"ColorConsole is an alternative to the standard Windows command shell (cmd.exe). It offers support for multiple tabs, customizable font and background colors, shortcuts for favorite commands and more. The program offers more than just simple color schemes, it actually enables you to format and color selected text portions similar to a word processor, and you can then export the formatted session to a HTML file or RTF document - great for educational purposes.

You can also save frequently used commands for quick access, run Chdir by selecting the folders from an Explorer menu (instead of having to type the path) and also print a copy of your session. No installation required."

(i.e. CMD), but most of them are just wrappers of the existing CMD. They
won't work if CMD is blocked or removed.

True CMD alternatives and replacements are, so far: ReactOS' CMD, and
JPSoft's TCC/LE (freeware version of TCC).
